2024 Acura MDX

The Acura MDX has earned its popularity through a combination of style, build quality, and performance. (For those who truly relish performance, Acura makes the Type S variant of the 2024 MDX, which we cover on a separate page.) Even the most inexpensive version of this premium three-row utility vehicle is packed with value, getting a long list of features that includes a panoramic moonroof, a power tailgate, and the brand’s signature Jewel Eye headlights. For this new model year, the seven-seat MDX continues to stand apart from the competition in meaningful ways. Acura even includes complimentary standard scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles.

Trims and Powertrains

The regular (non-Type S) MDX is offered in four trim packages: Base, Technology, A-Spec, and Advance. A 3.5-liter V6 making 290 horsepower sits under the hood, with a ten-speed automatic gearbox completing the powertrain. Front-wheel drive (FWD) comes standard on the Base and Technology, but Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) is an option for those trims. SH-AWD is standard on the A-Spec and Advance.

With FWD, the MDX is EPA-rated to return 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The highway fuel economy changes to 25 mpg with SH-AWD. A FWD 2024 MDX can tow as much as 3,500 pounds, while versions with SH-AWD can handle up to 5,000 pounds.

Standard Features

The Base MDX comes with a panoramic moonroof, proximity keyless entry with push-button start, tri-zone automatic climate control, leatherette-trimmed sport seats, 12-way front power seats with heat and individual memory systems, a power liftgate, LED exterior lighting with the trademark Jewel Eye headlights, a removable second-row center seat, one-touch third-row access, sound-reducing glass (windshield and side windows), and 19-inch wheels. The driver will appreciate the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, power tilt/telescopic steering column, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and auto-dimming rearview mirror.

The Technology trim extends the standard equipment roster with perforated Milano leather upholstery, power-folding side mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, GPS-linked climate control, and 20-inch wheels. (This trim also gets additional driver aids and infotainment features, which are detailed in the sections that follow.) The A-Spec adds sport seats trimmed with perforated Milano leather and Ultrasuede (heated and ventilated in the front row), LED fog lights, a leather-wrapped flat-bottomed steering wheel, trim-specific interior and exterior accents, and some multimedia upgrades (see the Infotainment and Connectivity tab for details).

The MDX Advance starts with the Technology trim’s features and adds 16-way power front seats that are heated and ventilated and equipped with power side bolsters. It also has remote start, a heated steering wheel, heated rear outboard seats, a hands-free power liftgate, a head-up display, roof rails, LED fog lights, a cabin intercom system, open-pore wood trim, and configurable LED cabin lighting.

Driver Aids and Safety Technology

AcuraWatch comes standard on every 2024 MDX. This suite of advanced driver aids includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Front and rear parking sensors and low-speed braking control are included with the Technology and higher trims. A surround-view monitor is standard on the Advance. Every trim also has multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, vehicle stability control (with traction control and adaptive steering), and a multi-view rearview monitor with dynamic guidelines.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The MDX’s 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system can be managed through the True Touchpad Interface or via voice command. Its main features are a nine-speaker audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and wireless device charging. Every trim has multiple USB ports and access to AcuraLink Connected Services for emergency aid, vehicle monitoring, and remote features. Navigation and a 12-speaker ELS Studio sound system come standard on the Technology and above. The speaker count increases to 16 for the A-Spec and Advance.
