Base

Although the Base trim is the starting point in the lineup, it doesn’t skimp on luxury. It has high-end amenities such as proximity keyless entry, a power liftgate, automatic LED headlights, a panoramic moonroof, heated side mirrors with reverse gear tilt-down, tri-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, ambient interior lighting, and a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror. The synthetic-leather sport seats are heated and power-adjustable in the front row, and the driver’s seat features 3-way position memory. What’s more, the multi-functional second-row bench comes with a removable middle seat and a convenient one-touch sliding function for easy access to the third row.

On the technology front, the Base gets wireless phone charging, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a HomeLink universal garage door opener, four USB charging ports, and CabinControl, which allows passengers to manage specific vehicle functions straight from their smartphones. This trim also gets a 12.3-inch central display (which can be controlled using the intuitive touchpad interface) that integrates a host of multimedia features, such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, a Wi-Fi hotspot, voice recognition, HD radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, Amazon Alexa, and a 9-speaker audio system.

The comprehensive AcuraWatch advanced safety suite is standard as well, providing forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, traffic jam assist, and traffic sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and automatic high beams are also standard.

Technology

The Technology trim significantly enhances the MDX experience with the addition of power-folding exterior mirrors, perforated Milano leather seats with contrast stitching, 3-position memory for the front passenger’s seat, manual second-row sunshades, and 27-color ambient interior lighting. Plus, its multimedia system is augmented with navigation and a 12-speaker ELS Studio audio system, while the safety factor is heightened with front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and low-speed braking control.

A-Spec

The sportier A-Spec injects style and attitude with LED fog lights, ventilated front seats, Ultrasuede upholstery, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, stainless-steel sport pedals, and an ELS Studio 3D audio system with 16 speakers. Road-trip communication is made easier thanks to CabinTalk, Acura’s built-in intercom system.

Advance

While the Advance doesn’t have the A-Spec’s sportier elements, it does get the LED fog lights and ventilated front seats. This trim brings luxury to the table with heated second-row outboard seats, remote start, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, a hands-free liftgate, roof rails, front seats with power side bolsters and thigh extensions, expanded ambient interior lighting, two more USB charging ports, and a 10.5-inch head-up display. As far as safety tech, the Advance gains a surround-view monitor and head-up warning.

Type S and Type S Advance

For those craving exhilarating performance, the Type S takes center stage. While it builds upon the A-Spec’s equipment roster, it flaunts its own distinctive appearance and gets an adaptive auto-leveling air suspension, Brembo brakes, remote start, and two additional USB charging ports. The Type S Advanced goes a step further by incorporating all of the features from the regular Advance trim, along with massaging front seats and a premier 25-speaker ELS Studio 3D sound system.
